Everything I ate my first time at Fujiwara Tofu!

Last Saturday, Fujiwara Tofu held their vk night event and I decided to go along to try to meet new people, learn about the visual kei subculture and of course try the yummy food!

By the way, if the name seems familiar to you, then you should already know that its a concept store and izakaya themed after the movie Initial D! Highly recommend you should go if you are a fan or even just a car enthusiast.

This is my outfit for that night!
Yes, it's not to the theme but I'm still studying vk fashion and going to do research on it.
Everybody at the event looked so nice, it really makes me want to try dressing like that too and continue exploring and researching fashion.

Anyway, here are the things I had there!

First off was a lychee soju and yogurt drink cocktail, I can't remember the name unfortunately :(
All of Fujiwara Tofu's in house drinks are name with relevance to the theme of Initial D!
This drink was pleasantly sweet and not too strong.

Yakitori rice! The chicken was soft, juicy and have the perfect teriyaki seasoning. However, I don't think that I would order this next time (or any of the udon dishes) because theyre quite filling and the point of izakaya is to eat as many dishes as possible!
They do sell the skewers by themself, so I'll definitely have them the next time I come back.

Signature Tofu Strips
Warning : this is extremely spicy! When I ate the first 2-3 strips, I was like "it's ok what"! But then after I continued to eat, especially when I reach the strips that was drenched in the sauce, I majorly regretted thinking that!

Even though it was very spicy, the black sauce drizzle helped to add some umami depth and the chilli sauce had a nice sour kick. The strips were also very crispy.
Next time, I will order one of the drink towers to help ease the burn from the chilli.

Rating : 6/10 (it was just too spicy)

Bacon wrap lychee

I really love sweet salty combination foods and this did not disappoint! The lychee really help to offset the salty bacon taste and greasiness and they were very sweet and juicy. However out of all the things I ate I don't find this particularly mindblowing, so next time I will not rush to get this unless I'm really very hungry.

Crab cream croquette
Cream croquette is one of my favourite finger foods! I promise, once you try it at an izakaya you will never go back because its piping hot with crispy batter. Squeezing the lemon also help to give the flavour some depth and it makes the cream feel not so heavy.
Honestly, it's not very difficult to get cream croquettes at other Japanese food establishments, but from now on I cannot eat croquettes that are not fresh off the grill and feel normal again. Haiya

Last and absolutely definitely not least, potato mochi stuff with cheese!
I'm currently playing Pokemon Legends Arceus which make me want to try potato mochi and after eating this, I totally understand why Beni is obsessed with it.
The mochi was so warm, soft and chewy with a crispy skin and the cheese was so smooth, rich and savoury!

There was so many other things I wanted to try but unfortunately I was getting full and also running out of money :(
But, I'm sure Fujiwara Tofu will be around for a long time to come and they will be hosting many events, so I don't have to worry about missing out on these yummy finger foods!

The best part is, they open until 2am daily so if youre a night owl like me you don't have to worry about them closing by the time you reach!

If you will like to visit Fujiwara Tofu, do give them a visit at 169 Sims Avenue, approximately a 10 minutes walk from Aljunied MRT!

Thank you for reading this post and hope you will support Fujiwara Tofu (so that I can keep going back and eating until fat haha)!

Window Shopping Day (PICTURE HEAVY)

Hi everyone, I'm very bored right now so here I am updating.  A few days ago, I was also very bored and went to walk around at Nex. I like to go to Nex because there is a great variety of shops there with good stuffs.  When I reached, I was very hungry so first thing I did was to find something to eat. There are many restaurants in Nex, especially on level 1 and at b1/b2. This time I went for Idaten Udon.  My meal : Carbonara udon, chicken gyoza and cream croquette. The carbonara was quite nice with a good umami taste however I found the chicken a bit taste unfresh and I saved it by dipping it in my DIY mix of soy sauce, gingers and spicy powder. Gyoza was a bit dry and I was a bit sad that I didn't have a vinegar base sauce to dip it with but it taste a bit better with the soya sauce mix. The cream croquette was nice, next time I will just grab it to eat as a snack while I walk around.  Before beginning my adventure I went to seven eleven to buy peely gummies ...
